As a Software Engineer joining our team, you will help build our software services:

  • Kausal Paths, a simulation platform for forecasting how a city develops over time especially in relation to greenhouse gas emissions, but also including financial, health, and social equity impact of climate actions.

  • Kausal Watch, which helps a city coordinate and monitor climate work, making the implementation of a city's climate action plan more efficient. Real-time dashboards and collaborative data updates reduce the overhead related to managing, communicating and reporting on the climate actions publicly.

  • You are — or are willing to get — comfortable with data crunching and scientific modeling.

  • You learn fast and are able to independently study new technologies.

  • You want your skills to be used for tackling the climate crisis.

  • You communicate clearly and understand the value of shared team-wide learning. Our working language is English.

  • You have familiarity with open-source software development practices. Ideally, your GitHub profile is already populated with commits.

What we offer:

  • Meaningful work with an international team of passionate, brilliant and empathetic people.

  • The possibility to focus on creating only open-source software (OSS) code. Our products are licensed under the AGPLv3.

  • A transparent and fair working environment with low hierarchy.

  • Flexible working hours. Nordic work-life balance.

  • Finland salary level based on your skills and experience. Access to option program.

Our tech stack consists mainly of Python, TypeScript+React+NextJS, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Polars/Pandas and Kubernetes. We use 99 % free software components.

We are open for candidates in all regions with a possibility to start working immediately. The work can be done fully remotely.
